What house is best for me?
After reviewing the properties on our website, please note which property or properties you prefer regarding size, location, décor, and specific requests. Continue by filling out our rental request form or by contacting our office to discuss rates and availability. VPM’s main objective is to match each client perfectly with their home–away-from-home based on our client’s clear requests and our expertise.

What is the rental process?
After you have chosen the perfect home, VPM will then mail you an agreement for you to review. You will send back in the self addressed stamped envelope provided, the original copy with your signatures and a check in the amount of the security deposit indicated. Please keep the yellow copy of the contract for your records. Once the original contract and security deposit have been received by VPM your rental reservation will be confirmed.

How long does my tenancy have to be?
In Carmel-by-the-Sea, by city ordinance, you must rent for a minimum of 30 days. However, in the county outside of Carmel-by-the-Sea which include: Carmel Point, Carmel Valley and River Beach, you may rent for a minimum of 7 days, however a 10.5% occupancy tax will be added to the rental fee.

How do I retrieve the keys to my vacation rental?
VPM will be contacting you before your date of arrival to obtain your estimated time of arrival to Carmel. If your arrival in Carmel-by-the-Sea is during business hours, all key pick-ups will be at VPM located at 2 SE of 7th on Dolores in downtown Carmel. If your arrival is before or after business hours, please contact VPM as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements for key pick-up.

When do I pay the rental fee?
Payment may be made in full prior to your arrival date or on the date of your arrival, unless otherwise noted on the rental reservations agreement. Payment must be in US dollars only, in the form of a check, cashiers check, wire transfer or cash. We currently do not accept credit cards.

What does each vacation rental contain?
Each property is fully-equipped with furniture, kitchen-ware, linens, BBQ pit, televisions, VCR’s/DVD’s, games, books, specialty items and much more. Any personal toiletries, must-have cookware, electronics or any personal items that will make your stay more comfortable, are recommended to bring.

May I bring my pets?
Most of our houses do not allow pets, but please ask before renting a home, so we may accommodate you with a pet friendly vacation rental.

How do I arrange for specialty services?
Prior to your arrival date, please contact VPM with any specific needs or desires. With ample time and reason, all requests will be accommodated by VPM and its selected vendors.

What happens if an item in the house breaks during my tenancy due to my negligence?
Simply call the office to arrange for replacement or repair of the item at tenant’s cost.

How do I retrieve my mail, faxes, and packages?
Most of our houses are located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, which means they do not have numerical addresses. All the addresses are directional in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Please contact VPM to make arrangements for a courtesy, personalized, mail box located at VPM offices. If you are staying a month or longer, please have your mail forwarded via U.S.P.S to our office. Vintage Property Management/Care of Tenant’s Name P.O. Box 5788 Carmel, CA. 93921. Each morning we will call to let you know your mail has arrived. If you need to send or receive a fax, please have the fax sent to VPM at 831-624-7159 Care of Tenant’s Name. For normal-sized packages sent via UPS, DHL, FedEx, or any other long distance carrier, please have them sent to Vintage Property Management/Care of Tenant’s Name 2 SE of 7th on Dolores, Carmel-by-the-Sea CA. 93921.

What happens if there is an emergency prior to, or after, business hours?
VPM has a 24 hour, live answering service that contacts the person on call to address any issue. Please do not wait until the next business day to notify VPM of urgent matters and or discrepancies.

How do I use the phone?
All guests may use the home’s phone, you will be charged for the long-distance calls and the charges will be deducted from your security deposit. A copy of the telephone bill during your stay will be provided along with your security deposit statement.

Is Internet provided?
Some properties provide complimentary Internet services, but all properties are equipped to have Internet services at the tenant’s request and expense.

What else do I pay for?
All guests staying 30 days or more pay for long distance phone calls, gas and electricity, cleaning services, any damages, and any specialty concierge services provided. All charges during your stay are deducted from your security deposit and copies of all bills charged are mailed to you approximately 21 days after your day of departure.

If I have an emergency and have to leave prior to my departure date do I get a refund?
Please refer to the contract sent by VPM for terms and agreements. Late arrivals or early departures are not causes for a refund.
